cheer uniform

Cheerleaders should get to wear their uniforms to school without leggings. I mean come on all summer long every body sees girls in bikinis and guys in swim shorts. So at least the cheerleaders should be able to wear their skirts with spandex under them. high~schoolers wear theirs uniforms without spandex so why cant we?

pangea

This would create more tourism and illegal aliens because it would be easier to sneak across borders and there is less distance to travel. The would be more languages possibly spoke because two countries would be closer together. the prices of food and clothes would go down because there would not be such high shipping costs.

Dachshund

picture from here
Dachshund puppies are soooo cute. I have one and her name is Daisy. Also know as a wiener dog. I love her she is very playful and likes to play fetch she also tolerates a lot with my 2 almost 3 year old brother who likes to pull her hair. The two bad things about her is she likes to stand close to your feet so i always step on her like most every body in the house. Reason number two is when she gets overly excited she pees so now our carpet has many pee stains.

Large Quesadilla

If i was hired as the super chef  cheif on the food network i would create a large quesadilla. because i love them. I would describe it as the worlds largest and tastiest . It would be filled with  four different kinds of cheese, 2 different kinds of sauce, and 1 heaping size of meat.  It would weigh 10 pounds. weew, that one huge quesadilla. So come and try to eat  my new quesadilla or my new quesadilla or it will eat you.

9~11~01

The events that happened in 9~11~2001 were probably the most tragic event to happen to America. Many innocent people died that day. All had family, friends, and coworkers. The twin towers were destroyed by two  terrorist in planes that they had hijacked and taken control over. Those planes that crashed killed the innocent  people inside them. One plane also crashed into the pentagon. this a day to remember forever. It changed America.

Something That Really Bugs You

The school dress code bothers me. Although the counselor claims that the dress code is in place to make us look "more professional", students are still allowed to wear baggy sweatpants and hoodies. This seems like the school board is contradicting itself. I agree with some issues the dress code addresses but I think that it could be more lenient. I think girls should be allowed to wear athletic shorts with scooped sides and slightly shorter short than the dress code allows for now. I agree that leggings can sometimes be problematic and sometimes see-though but I believe yoga pants should be allowed because their thicker material prevents the problem.

Free Post (Mr. Kitty)

This week I found a cat. I was in our spare bedroom when I heard meowing. I looked out the window onto the porch to discover a very skinny looking cat. I went outside to see the cat and when I opened the door he ran right up to me. I then sat on our step by the door and he crawled into my lap. He began to rub against my hand and purr when I petted him. I knew my dad disliked cats so i asked my mom what to do. She allowed me to keep the cat, whom of which I began calling Mr. Kitty, in the bathroom downstairs. My dad isn't allowed to know that I am hiding a cat in our basement..

Kid Nation episode 7

In episode 7 of kid nation, I saw deviance when Jared knocked over Divad's food stand. He was jealous of her getting even more money than him. Because she already had plenty of money, he didn't see a need for her to have more money. He sabotaged her money after he was confronted about his idea. While everyone else thought her idea was clever, he was just greedy and tried to destroy her idea.

There was an example of primary deviance when Greg and Nathan fought. Nathan normally stayed away from conflict, but Greg's attitude made them get into arguments. They were fighting abut the different responsibilities. Nathan thought the laundry was more important, but Greg was set on doing the dishes. Greg was also acting more like he did in the beginning. He was being an antagonist by causing even more problems.

There was an example anomie when there was a lot of conflict in the town. This caused the town to become weaker. The conflict also influenced council decisions because they realized that kids were becoming too greedy. The kids greed caused the caused them to get into many arguments over who deserves what. The town began to slowly start to overcome the greed and start to work together again.

Kid Nation episode 6

In this episode of kid nation, the new leaders of Bonanza city have to adjust to the conformity that council leaders are expected to act like. The other leaders expect them to get up early just like they do. The rest of each leaders district expect their new leaders to better help them. The new leaders seem to be adjusting well to the new expectations by already helping clan up the town. The expectations of the leaders are to listen to the districts and make the best decisions for the town.

There was informal organization when people came together to fill the water tank. The kids felt the obligation to help. Not all kids helped, but the ones that did realized that team work can accomplish almost anything. Although Taylor was supposed to fill the water tank, she had a fit and refused to. The other kids were annoyed with her but still accomplished the huge task of filling the tank.

There was a sensed of rationalization when the council recruited kids to clean out the trash. The trash was causing the town to stink. Due to the abundance of trash, the kids collected it in wagons. They then took the wagons and moved it far from the town. The trash was then buried in holes dug by the kids.

The kids had figures of authority. The authority were the council leaders.  They were voted for by their districts. They used their power to help direct the kids into the right direction and to better improve the town. Although the leaders had limited power within their positions, they still managed to use it appropriately.

Kid Nation episode 5

On Kid nation the kids are divided into groups. The groups are organized by color. Each council leader chose their group. The groups work together to complete their jobs and when they compete in show downs. The different groups even sleep in the same bunk rooms.

The kids often hang out in different social categories. The categories they often tend to stay in are mostly divided by age. Some categories are divided by how seriously they take their responsibilities.  The leaders are in the social category same social category. The lazy kids and younger kids are often put in the same category because the contribute the same amount of work.

There was conflict between the lazier kids and the hard working kids. The hard working kids thought it was unfair that the other kids weren't working. The lazier kids thought that it didn't matter because other people would do their work for them. This conflict caused many problems throughout the whole town. There was also conflict between Sanjay and Olivia while voting for new council members.

There was social aggregate when all the groups meet. For example, when the all have meals. During show downs, there is also social aggregate. The districts still stayed separate, but they were all together. The different times where social aggregate there was often more conflict.

Kid Nation episode 4

In kid nation, they displayed ascribed statuses because the council leaders were given the role of being the leaders. If they council members were voted instead of assigned, then there might have been less conflict with their decisions. Many of the kids have even suggested a change in leaders. They think that if they vote for the leaders then thing will be more responsive to their choices not only leaders decisions. I agree with the majority of kids that due to the council leaders ascribed statuses, they don't really care how anyone else feels about their decisions.

The social interaction between the more mature kids and council members has a lot of conflict. The more mature kids don't exactly agree with the decisions of council and this causes arguments. Most kids agree with the older kids rather than the council leaders. Now more kids listen to the group of mature older kids than the council. It seems like most kids are starting to considers the words of each other rather than the council.

The role the more helpful kids played really helped keep the town stay together. They helped settle conflicts more the council. The councils role ended up creating more problems than solving them. While the older more mature kids tried to help bring people together, most of the time council just wanted to base their decisions on what they wanted. Many of the kids this episode deserved the gold star after displaying how many different helpful roles they can play.

The yellow team didn't help at all with their duties. Due to their ignorance to do their jobs, the other kids felt an obligation to help the few yellow people actually working fulfill their duties. Although Taylor should feel an obligation to help, she uses her power to support bad behavior. The other kids
are trying to set a better example for the younger kids, but Taylor is teaching the kids in her group that they don't have to do anything.

Poorest President

Jose Mujica sounds like a very generous respectable president. Although by U.S standards his salary isn't much, in Uruguay it is more than plenty for him to live off of. Him donating 90% of it shows that he actually cares for the citizens of his country. It also shows that he isn't selfish. I hope more people strive to be more selfless like him and consider others, not just consider their money. He can help set a good example for his whole country by continuing his charity.

Free post (Ducklings)

Over Easter break, I got 2 ducklings. At first I went with my aunt and got the first one, a mallard whom I named Bae, but then she seemed lonely. The following night when we went to get more supplies for Bae we saw more ducklings, so I convinced my mom that Bae needed a friend. We got another duckling which I named Boo. Boo is a yellow duckling who will grow up to look like the Aflac duck on commercials.

My ducklings are still young so they have to be kept inside under a heat lamp. They stay in a rubber tub in my room so I can keep an eye on them. I often take them outside to play in the grass and swim in our little kiddie pool. Although I have three dogs they all seem happy to have new little friends to play with.

Kid Nation episode 3

In this episode of Kid Nation, I saw an example of the imitation stage. This happened when the kids were having a break/celebratory night. They were more than likely imitating the way the see adults on TV and in real life. They were yelling and stayed up all night instead of going to bed at a reasonable time.

In Kid Nation, there was an example a resocialization when the council decided to have a curfew. A curfew of 9:30 forces the kids to go to be earlier. The council thought the a curfew would force the kids to go to bed earlier so they would have more energy to contribute to the town. The hoped this would help the kids be less crabby too.

They displayed play stage when they were rounding up the sheep. The council members were acting as the sheriffs. The kids in the districts were the poesy. The sheriffs were instructing which sheep the other kids should go after because they were the wanted sheep.

The kids looked to the council members as a reference group. The younger kids also looked up to some of the older kids. Although some of the older kids set a bad example, many of the still had a lot to teach the younger kids.

The kids showed an example of game stage when the council members compared their bossy behavior to that of the government. They took being in control as an okay to boss and be rude to the other kids. They could have used a better way to take control than just yelling.

Kid Nation episode 2

On kid nation they showed Ethnocentrism by some of the animal lovers who didn't want to kill the chickens locking themselves in the chicken coop. They thought that killing the chickens seemed barbaric. After the council talked to the kids, they were more okay with the decision. Although they judged the kids who wanted to kill the chickens, they were able to understand the reasoning of killing them and eventually less against it.

The kids who are vegetarian believed killing the chickens went against their morals. Some of he younger kids also didn't understand the need of killing them so they to believed it was against their morals. They think that since they are "defenseless" animals and should be left alone. They also believe that eating meat is wrong too because that means that you have to kill an animal.

The kids all come from different subcultures. This caused some issues when they needed protein from meat. While they required the nutrients some kids believed it was wrong, such as vegetarians, because of their beliefs based on their subculture. The other kids from subcultures, such as farmers, were used to this and knew the importance of it to their town.

Free post (Drama)

Drama is a very relevant topic to discuss in middle school. While most parents or teachers advise kids to just ''stay away from drama", it's not that easy most of the time. Drama occurs almost everyday, and it's usually not easy to avoid. Whether it's your friend talking behind your back or even drama about a guy, most of the time you don't even want to be involved in the drama at all. Even though most kids want nothing to do with drama, they still gossip and unintentionally start it. Usually with a few days time drama can be solved and becomes forgotten about, but other times neither person is willing to admit they are wrong and the tension between two will remain for a long time.

Kid Nation episode 1

On the Kid Nation episode "I'm Trying to be a Leader Here", they displayed perspective by having individual time for the kids where they talked about how they felt about what was going on. Each individual kid felt differently about what was going on. For example one council member thought things were going well, but another council member who was expecting differently thought that things were going horrible. This helped show how different someone's opinion can be based on their experiences.

They experienced dysfunction when they tried to hold a council meeting but no one would listen to the leaders. Another kid, Michael, had to step in and help take control. They later divided the kids into districts. The districts help the kids have more order in the town. Dysfunction can be a major factor in many things failing.

The kids in Kid Nation displayed power by having four main leaders. These leaders were known as the council leaders. They were in charge of the other kids and were supposed to help keep order. They used their power to help prevent further problems between the districts. Although they sometimes abused their power by not doing as much work as the others, they learned that their power would be better used if they used it to keep order.

Dear Mrs. DeBolt,
My favorite color is tiffany blue. This is my favorite color because it is a perfect mix of mint green and turquoise. Most people do not recognize tiffany blue as its own color and often over generalize it as just another shade of blue or even as a unique shade of teal. Due to the small amount of people who recognize this color, it is very hard to find products that are the specific color. The only product that I have personally found is the Tiffany Blue Nike Free Runs. Although Nike no longer carries this product in store or online, many alternative retailers still sell them online or in stores.
An interesting thing that has happened to me took place while I was in Florida with my family. Our family and another family that we were friends with that was vacationing in the same area as us decided to rent a pontoon boat and visit a few of the many small islands and coves we had heard about in our previous years of travel to the region. Upon renting the boat from one of the many businesses that offered boat rental, we received a map of a few the islands that are great for visiting. Once we arrived at one of the islands, my sister decided that she wanted to swim over to another island about 10 yards from the one we were on. My sister convinced my mom to swim over with her. While they were swimming my mother noticed something swimming below them. It only took a few seconds for her to register that not only was there more than one thing swimming below, but those things swimming were stingrays. They quickly swam back to where the rest of us were and were completely unharmed.
I have a very slight experience in technology. My experience level is beginner to intermediate but I follow directions very well. I really hope we work more how to navigate the computer and use certain programs more easily. Although I know the basics, I still sometimes have issues with certain programs and still have difficulty fixing some common problems.

                                                                                                                           Sincerely,
                                                                                                                           Alyssa Kalltenbronn

Video Game Violence

I believe that video games are only a small part of the reason kids are more violent. Most video games are violent but many of the kids that play such games know that it is a game and that the way characters in the game may behave are not okay ways to behave in real life. I believe that the many wars and violent scenes that are taking place in real life are more responsible for making kids violent than video games. In addition to most kids knowing that the activities in video games are wrong, parents can limit the amount of violence their child is subject to in the games he or she plays. Parents can't always control the news reports or graphic images their kids see on television, but they can limit the vide games.

Kid Nation!

40 children will have to try and fix a very old pioneer country. They have to spend 40 days in an old pioneer country with no adults, no teachers, and 4 leaders (who are also children). The council (4leaders) will have to start getting to know the children because the have to give one of them a two pound gold star worth $20,000. All of the kids are not having a very fun time being back in the old days and working. They have to live in an old cabin, on the floor, and with a very thin mattress. All of the kids have no idea how to cook and they had to throw out some of their food because it wasn't cooking, and a girl named Sophia really took charge and she's not even in the council. Some of the children have already broken down on the first day because they miss their friends and family. On the second day breakfast was a lot better than dinner on the first day. Also lots of people on the second day didn't get any food for breakfast and others got a lot of extra breakfast. Some of the older kids were picking on the little kids and even the council. Michael is another kid that is again not a part of the council and he stood up to everyone who was fighting and gave a small speech about how everyone at the country needs to work together. The town failed in 1885, so the leaders that read the book had to split the kids into 4 groups. The green, blue, yellow, and red teams. Everyone really does like the groups that they're in. Lorel (I think that's how you spell it) helped a first grader on her team because he broke down because he misses his mom and dad. Later on someone went to a bunkhouse and wrote with chalk on the bunkhouses. The children believe that the two older boys may have done it. There is going to be a showdown to see who will have what job and what their paychecks will be. Everyone is going for the upper class because they have no specific job and are paid  $1 for a certain amount of time. The youngest kids (yellow team) want to prove that they can do anything that older kids can do. The red district was the upper class. The blue district got the merchants. The yellow team got the cooks. The green district got the laborers. All of the districts had to pick a reward since everyone finished the challenge in an hour, One of the choices was 7 outhouses or a TV. That would be a really hard choice for me. But really if they picked the TV nobody will have time to watch it or they would just sit and do nothing. They did end up picking the outhouses so now they have a total of 8 outhouses to use. Everyone really liked the breakfast that the yellow team made. The blue district really liked their job as merchants. Sophia really wanted to get herself a bike so she danced a little on the street for money and she ended up buying the bike for $3. Jimmy is thinking about going home but some 10 year olds are trying to make them stay. At a meeting everyone was starting to fight so the council is going to try really, really hard to make the town work harder at everything. Jimmy decided that he wants to go home because he misses his family a whole lot. Sophia received the gold star from the council and she gets $20,000. Sophia also gets to call her parents and tell them that she won the gold star and $20,000 because of her hard work. I really liked this because you can see that kids can work together and make a working nation. All of the kids worked really hard when they figured out that they could win $20,000.

The Dance Workshop

This weekend I'm going to a Dance Workshop and I am really excited. Basically it is a weekend full of dance classes in every type of dance. Some classes I have are Jazz, Jazz Funk, Hip-Hop, Tap, and I think Ballet too. So you have to start your classes at 7:45 in the morning on Saturday and once your done with your classes, you will get ready to compete your dance that you have from home. Then on Sunday you have your classes again, but after you're done on Sunday you will have a showcase of all of the new things you learned at the classes that you had. Another thing is during the classes, if directors see you improving a lot or doing very well you can get another free workshop which is worth about $200!

Something that Bugs Me

Picture From Here

Something that bugs me is my hair. My hair bugs me because every single day I have to put it up in a ponytail or a bun or apply heat to it to curl or straighten it and both of those things are not good for your hair. I wish I could just brush my hair and be on my way to school but it takes me about 20-30 minutes to do my hair because of how frizzy and hard to control it is. When I try to do new things with my hair it never works. And even when I do a ballet bun, I have lots of baby hairs underneath all of my hair so I have to put them up in bobby pins. My hair is starting to get super thick too, so when I put it up in a ponytail, I always have the problem where I can loop the rubber band around my hair three times, but it needs to be looped around four times or it will fall out.

Mental Blocks in Cheer

Picture from Here

I am going through a mental block in cheer. A mental block is when you know that you have a certain skill, but your brain tells you that you can't do it. I am not doing my standing tuck and my front punch (a front flip). I know lots of people who have these too so I know that I am not alone. When you get a mental block you just have to remember why you want this skill and how you can approve from it. I want my standing tuck and my front punch so that I can be on a level 4 team next year rather than a level 2 or 3 team. If I got these skills I could start to do fulls, which are level 5 skills, and many others things after. My coaches have told me over and over and over and over and over and over that I have these skills but my mental block makes me think that I am not capable of performing a skill. (That's a standing tuck in the animation.)

Being Special

Picture From Here

I believe that the U.S. is correct with what they are saying about everybody being special. But if you really think about it if everybody is special, then nobody is special. But if everyone is special in their own way then we are all special. I don't really like the thought of everybody being the same or normal. But what is normal? When I think of normal I think of this one episode of SpongeBob when Squidward wants SpongeBob to be more ''normal'' but nobody is like how SpongeBob was trying to be so, is there even a way to describe being normal or the same as others? Since everyone is different anyways with their personalities, looks, what they eat for breakfast, or even how fast they learn lyrics to songs we really are all special.

LIVE in Louisville, Kentucky

LIVE is a cheer competition in Louisville, Kentucky. I have never gone to this type of competition before, and all of the people that have been to the competition said that it was the most fun competition that they have ever been to. The reason LIVE is so fun is because when you are walking on to take the mat, you become the center of attention, and you are walking a red carpet through the front of the stage rather than from the back. Also after your done with the routine and you taking big gasps of air, you see if you had a higher score than someone who had a higher score than someone else before, and if your score is higher then you get to sit in a lounge with red chairs and a DJ and you can get up and dance. But sadly sometimes people get a higher score than you and you could get kicked out of the lounge. When you are kicked out you tell the person who received a higher score than your team, "Good Job!"

To Neverland

Picture From Here

If I had seven identical doors in front of me I would go into the door that leads to Neverland. I would want to go to Neverland the most out of all of the other places because Neverland is from a movie/play that is called Peter Pan, and if you went inside of that door you would never grow up, so you could stay a kid forever. Also if you went inside you could meet Peter Pan and the lost boys. They seem so fun based on the movies. Peter Pan is actually one of my favorite movies so that's mainly why I picked to go to Neverland. I would be able to fly if I met Peter Pan because he might be kind enough to give me some fairy dust and teach me how to fly. I could also help the lost boys by cooking and cleaning for them.

Something I Will Never Forget

I will never forget how I rode ALL of the rides at Six Flags. I don't know why I would want to remember this, but it's a pretty big accomplishment for a girl who is afraid of pretty much anything. I actually rode all of the rides in the summer of 2013. I think that adults would forget this since it really wouldn't be as big as getting a better job or anything more than that, so that's why I think that adults usually forget lots of things that teenagers think are a big deal. So when you think you finally did something that is very important or will make you feel better, you probably won't think of it as big in a couple of years.

The Verrückt

Picture From Here

The Verruckt is a large water slide built in Kansas City, MO that most people think is up to 17 stories tall, but no one knows exactly how tall it is until May 23rd. On the water slide you will be going down a 5 stories hill at 65 mph. Whenever the Verrnuckt opens it will set a world record for the tallest water slide ever built by Jeff Henry a.k.a. The Wizard of Water. Jeff is called the Wizard of Water because he is a wizard of all things water fun. The Verrnuckt is as tall or taller than the Statue of Liberty or Niagara Falls. The Verrnuck is different from the Insano of Brazil because of the height difference. The Insano is about 14 stories tall, and the Verrnuckt is or might be 17 stories tall. I would not want to go on this ride because I am VERY afraid of heights. Also I have a huge fear of rides breaking, so at Six Flags and other theme parks, I have a very hard time with riding them. (Yet I've rode all of the rides at Six Flags St. Louis!)

  • At my moms house, we have a very extensive view of the woods.
  • When I was almost late to school my dad was hurtling down the road.
  • For the Halloween party, Bob illuminated his front yard with Christmas lights.
  • On the math test the whole class was mulling for the answer.
  • The herding dogs propelled the sheep to another field.
  • The new game at the arcade is radical.
  • When the yoga teacher is doing the salutation to the sun she is speculating.
  • When my cheer coaches give me a tumbling pass I surpass their expectations.
  • To fix his motorcycle, my dad welded the parts together.

Mini Windmills

Picture From Here

This paragraph is all about tiny windmills that can soon power our cell phones and if you buy lots and lots, you can power your home with them! The maker of this new invention is Jung-Chih Chiao. Measuring down to 1.8 millimeters that there widest point these tint windmills can easily fit 1000 inside your phone case. The windmills can hold up to very strong wind power, but the downside is the windmills could not charge a phone during an hour or more phone call, but they can keep the phone charged to send out a text that means life or death in some cases. The reason for this invention is the maker wanted to make an emergency phone charger that doesn't use solar power because the sun isn't out all day, but the wind is almost always blowing, day or night.

  • Because homes usually take so much power, it is arduous to power them.
  • When my cousin said he was tired, he asserted it.
  • I looked at the elephant and contemplated his large ears.
  • My new phone case is durable in different weather.
  • Before I rode the horse, I saw the coach harnessing him.
  • When the company made a new toy, they made sure they got a patent.
